In he received the Constantine Panunzio Distinguished Emeriti Award, which honors and financially supports the post-retirement research carried by UC faculty.
In June , UCSC honored Bill with a one-year Edward A. Dickson Emeritus Professorship, which provides financial support for his ongoing research in the academic year.
